Vascular surgeons specialize in the diagnosis, medical management and surgical treatment of diseases of the circulatory system, which includes arteries, veins and lymph vessels, as well as blood disorders that affect circulation. These conditions include peripheral artery disease (hardening of the arteries), aneurysms, varicose veins, blood clots in the veins, blood clotting disorders, and lymphedema (abnormal build-up of fluid that causes swelling in the arms or legs). John D. Leonard, M.D.
Dr. John Leonard earned his bachelor
of science degree in 1966 and
his medical degree in 1970 from
the University of Alberta in
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He
completed his internship in
1971 at Royal Alexandra
Hospital, and his surgery
fellowship in 1981 at the
University of Iowa Hospitals and
Clinics. Dr. Leonard is certified
by the American Board of
Surgery, is a fellow of the
American College of Surgeons
and a fellow of the Royal
College of Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Leonard's
medical interests
include all facets of vascular
reconstructive surgery, as well
as the non-surgical
management of
atherosclerosis. Dr. Leonard
also has substantial experience
in endoscopic surgery. Dr. Leonard
joined the staff of Longmont Clinic in August
1993.

Natalie Weger, D.O.
Dr. Natalie Weger earned her bachelor of arts degree in
biochemistry in 1993 from the University of Colorado, Boulder, completed
post-baccalaureate work from the University of Arizona in 1997, and received
her medical degree from the Des Moines University Osteopathic Medical Center in
Iowa in 2001. She then completed general surgery residencies with the Albert
Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and St. Luke's Hospital
in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. In 2009, she completed her fellowship in vascular
surgery at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, St. Barnabus Health Care System
in Newark, New Jersey. Dr. Weger is certified by the American College of
Surgeons, and specializes in the minimally invasive adjunct to vascular surgery
including the endovascular repair of abdominal aortic aneurysms, peripheral
arterial disease, carotid arteries and varicose veins. Dr. Weger joined the
staff of Longmont Clinic in July 2009.
