In order to achieve the best quality radiographic images, you will need to complete a bowel preparation prior to the study.
This preparation is necessary and is very simple.
1.) Take TWO laxative tablets at 9:00 a.m. the day before the study. Take the LAST pill at 3:00 p.m. the day before the study.
2.) Clear liquids may be taken up to the time of the exam. (It is important to keep hydrated for this exam).
(Clear Liquids include: Strained juices without pulp, Water, Broth, Coffee or tea, Gatorade, Soft drinks, Jell-O, Popsicles.)

With this study you will be administered Intravenous Contrast, if:
• You are a diabetic
• You are 60 or older
• You have a history of renal insufficiency
• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
• You have only one kidney
You will need to have lab work done before your IVP. The test you will need will be for creatinine function. This must be available for the Radiology/fluoroscopy department 24 - 48 hours prior to the exam. If you have already had blood drawn in the lab, the creatinine must be no more than 30 days old.
