H1N1/Swine Flu Information The physicians and staff of Longmont Clinic are providing the following information so that you can proactively plan, prepare and protect yourself, your family members and friends from the spread of the swine influenza virus. Recommendations per the Colorado Department of Health and Public Environment:
Persons with milder influenza-like illness who are not at higher risk for influenza complications should be encouraged to stay at home and not seek testing or prescriptions of anti-viral medication.
High risk individuals are persons with certain chronic medical conditions (such as asthma, diabtetes, COPD, cardiac disease or other immunosuppressive disorders), persons age 65 years or older, children less than 5 years of age, and pregnant women. These patients should seek medical attention if symptoms present. Individuals with severe illness, such as difficulty breathing, should contact their health care provider.
Children and adolescents with fever should not go to day care or school. Adults with fever should not go to work until their symptoms resolve. The department advises those who experience influenza symptoms to stay home for seven days after onset of symptoms, or at least 24 hours after the symptoms have resolved, whichever is longer.
The state health department also encourages people to take these personal precautions to decrease their chances of getting the flu:
- Wash hands frequently
- Cover your sneezes and coughs
- Avoid others with respiratory illnesses
If you are experiencing influenza-like symptoms, including fever, body aches, runny nose, sore throat, nausea, or vomiting or diarrhea, you may want to contact your health care provider, particularly if you are worried about your symptoms. Your health care provider will determine whether influenza testing or treatment is needed.

Congratulations Dr. Raj TerKonda!
Dr. Raj TerKonda has been named one of Denver’s top doctors in Plastic Surgery Head and Neck by 5280: Denver’s Magazine.
5280’s annual Top Docs feature offers the most extensive overview of Denver’s top medical professionals.
Dr. Raj TerKonda, has been named one of the top facial plastic surgeons in the region and is proud that his accomplishments have been recognized by his peers, “It is an honor to be recognized by my colleagues for my work in Facial Plastic Surgery. I work hard to run a high quality practice and am devoted to delivering superior patient care in a safe environment. I believe in educating my patients so that together we can make the right choice for their concern. Through my own continuing education, I also keep abreast of the latest developments in facial plastic surgery and critically evaluate new treatments before offering them to my patients.” said Dr. TerKonda.
The Top Doctors issue is a perennial top-seller on local newsstands and was the first ever cover story in July 1993. Said Daniel Brogan, editor and publisher of 5280, “5280’s Top Docs is a list that readers refer to again and again because it is credible. We don’t pick the docs—Denver’s physicians do. Our theory is that medical professionals are best qualified to judge other medical professionals. ”
In order to select the top doctors and facilities, 5280 opened its survey to every metro-area doctor with a valid Colorado medical license practicing in the state. The survey listed a variety of specialties and asked the doctors who they would trust to treat them or a member of their families in each of the 80 categories.
